The Road to Nationals: Your Guide to the 2026 Club Qualifier Season
The 2026 USAV national qualifier season is heating up fast. With the Southeast Qualifier already in the books and a packed slate of events stretching from New Orleans to Las Vegas to Boston over the next several weeks, thousands of club teams across the country are chasing bids to the Girls Junior National Championship in Indianapolis this summer.
Here's your guide to the major qualifiers on the calendar, what to watch for, and how the road to nationals unfolds from here.
What's a National Qualifier?
For anyone new to the club volleyball world, national qualifiers are the gateway to USAV Junior Nationals — the biggest event on the club calendar. Teams compete at qualifier tournaments throughout the winter and spring to earn bids (invitations) to compete at the national championship. Bids come in different tiers — Open, USA, Liberty, and American — based on a team's finish at the qualifier. The higher the bid, the more competitive the bracket at nationals.
Not every tournament is a qualifier. USAV designates specific events across the country as official national qualifiers, and each one awards a set number of bids based on the number of teams entered.
Already in the Books
Southeast Qualifier — Atlanta, GA
The SEQ's first weekend (February 14-16) wrapped up at the Georgia International Convention Center, with 18s teams competing for some of the first national bids of the season. The SEQ is one of the most respected qualifiers in the country, drawing teams from nearly 30 states. Week 2 runs February 20-22, with the 18s qualifier continuing alongside 17s invitational play.
The SEQ typically awards around nine 18s bids to nationals, making it one of the most competitive early-season events on the circuit.
This Week
Music City Girls National Qualifier — New Orleans, LA
February 20-22, 2026
Originally founded in Nashville, the Music City Championships moved to New Orleans and has become a staple of the early qualifier calendar. This year's event runs at the New Orleans Convention Center and welcomes teams ages 13-18. It's a full qualifier for all 18s divisions and awards Liberty bids for 17s through 13s.
With the event kicking off tomorrow, teams from across the Southeast and beyond are already in town.
Southeast Qualifier Week 2 — Atlanta, GA
February 20-22, 2026
The SEQ's second weekend continues the 18s qualifier action at the Georgia International Convention Center, alongside the 17s invitational. For 18s teams that didn't secure a bid last weekend, this is another shot.
Next Week and Beyond
Sunshine Classic — Orlando, FL
February 27 - March 1, 2026
One of the biggest qualifiers of the winter season, the Sunshine Classic takes over the Orange County Convention Center's West Concourse. Divisions run from 11 National through 17 USA, making it a massive event with teams from across the eastern half of the country. Pool play runs Friday and Saturday with single elimination on Sunday.
Sierra Girls 18s National Qualifier — San Mateo, CA
February 28 - March 2, 2026
Run by NCVA, the Sierra qualifier is the premier West Coast 18s event of the early season. Divisions include 18 Open, 18 USA, 18 Liberty, and 18 American. The event also features a recruiting combine, with film distributed to every NCAA Division I program in the country and every college program in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Arizona. If you're an 18s player looking for college exposure, this is one of the best weekends on the calendar.
NIKE Boston National Qualifier — Boston, MA
Weekend 1: February 27 - March 1 | Weekend 2: March 6-8 | Weekend 3: April 3-5
The NIKE Boston NQ runs three full weekends at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, making it one of the longest-running qualifier series of the season. Weekend 1 covers 16s through 11s divisions, Weekend 2 adds 18s qualifier play, and Weekend 3 wraps up with additional age groups. Boston has become a powerhouse qualifier destination — teams travel from over 35 states to compete.
March: The Heart of Qualifier Season
March is when the qualifier calendar gets truly packed. Here are the big ones:
Northeast Qualifier — Philadelphia, PA (March 13 - April 5) Four consecutive weekends at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The NEQ is one of the largest qualifiers in the country, attracting an estimated 1,500 teams from over 35 states plus Puerto Rico. Different age groups rotate across each weekend.
Red Rock Rave — Las Vegas, NV Weekend 1 (March 14-16) takes over the Las Vegas Convention Center with 18s, 17s, 16s, and 15s divisions. Weekend 2 (April 4-6) moves to Mandalay Bay for younger age groups. Run by SCVA, the Red Rock Rave is one of the most anticipated qualifiers of the season — and the Las Vegas setting doesn't hurt.
Mideast National Qualifier — St. Louis & Indianapolis (March 13-22) Split across two cities and two weekends. Weekend 1 (March 13-15) brings 14s, 15s, and 16 American/Liberty to St. Louis. Weekend 2 (March 20-22) splits between St. Louis (11s through 13s and remaining 14s) and Indianapolis (16s Open/USA, 17s, and 18s).
Big South National Qualifier — Atlanta, GA (March 28 - April 5) Another major Atlanta qualifier at the Georgia World Congress Center. Weekend 1 covers younger age groups, Weekend 2 brings the 15s through 18s.
April: The Final Push
The last window for teams to earn their bids before nationals:
Lone Star Girls National Qualifier — Texas & Oklahoma (April 3-19) Three weekends spread across Houston, San Antonio, Farmers Branch, and Oklahoma City. One of the biggest qualifiers in the South, the Lone Star is a proving ground for Texas volleyball programs and draws strong competition from across the region.
Girls West Coast National Qualifier — Anaheim, CA (April 2-4) The final West Coast qualifier at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Salt Lake City Showdown — Salt Lake City, UT (April) A two-weekend qualifier that's grown significantly in recent years.
ASICS Show Me National Qualifier — Kansas City (April 11-19) Two weekends at the Kansas City Convention Center. Weekend 1 (April 11-13) covers 15s, 16s, and 17s. Weekend 2 (April 17-19) hosts 10s through 14s and 18s.
The Finish Line: 2026 National Championships
All of this leads to the main events:
- Girls 18s National Championship: May 1-3, Reno, NV - Girls Junior Club Championship: June 5-7, Columbus, OH - Girls 10-13s National Championship: June 19-22, Minneapolis, MN - Girls 14-17s Junior National Championship (GJNC): June 25 - July 3, Indianapolis, IN
The GJNC in Indianapolis is the crown jewel — the largest junior volleyball event in the world. For most club teams, everything from November tryouts through spring qualifiers is building toward those few days in late June and early July.
What We're Watching
A few storylines we'll be tracking as qualifier season rolls on:
The 18s bid race. With the SEQ already awarding bids and Music City, Sierra, and Boston all coming up in the next two weeks, the 18s landscape will start to take shape quickly. Teams that don't earn a bid at their first qualifier will be looking for second chances at later events — and the pressure only builds as the calendar moves forward.
Regional strength. Pay attention to which regions dominate at cross-regional qualifiers. When Texas clubs travel to Atlanta or California teams show up in Las Vegas, you start to get a real picture of where the strongest programs are this year.
The younger age groups. The 14s and 15s divisions at major qualifiers are where future stars start to emerge. Keep an eye on the Sunshine Classic and Red Rock Rave for standout performances from younger teams making their first national qualifier runs.
We'll be covering the major qualifiers throughout the season with previews, bid breakdowns, and storylines worth following. If you're on the road to nationals, Mr.Digs has you covered.
